I discovered square dancing in September 2000 when I joined my local club, Sheffield Swirlers in South Yorkshire. After I had completed the Basic and Mainstream programmes I became interested in calling, so in May 2002 I picked up the mic and started to call a tip alongside our club caller each week. I eventually shared the calling with him and when he agreed to call for a new advanced club, Chain Reaction SDC near Preston, Lancashire which started in October 2003, I went along and started learning to call advanced. When he retired from calling in April 2008, I took up position of regular club caller for both clubs and afterwards started to learn to call C1.

I have called on a rota with several other callers for Lune Valley Ocean Wavers in Lancashire calling Mainstream and Plus for several years and run my own Challenge club, DiCey Squares in Nottingham.

I also call various Saturday dances and weekend events throughout the UK. I have called in England, Scotland and Wales, France, Germany, Denmark and the United States and look forward to calling in Sweden in the very near future.

Jack Borgström, SE
Jack Borgström, SE

Jack started calling in 1983 for Örebro SD in his hometown Örebro, Sweden where he learned his first Do Si Do steps in 1980. Here he called MS clubnights and classes for a couple of years and then he moved to Stockholm where he started to call for Grödinge SD.

Jack is now calling thru C2. Jack is calling weekly for Sollentuna SD, a wonderful club with great people. Jack enjoys the basics and mainstreams as well as the higher levels. He has been one of the staff callers at Böda Baden, a squaredancing resort in Sweden, since they started back in 1984. Sadly the resort is now history. He is also proud of being a staff caller at New Beat Records. During a number of years Jack was the president of SACT.

Jack has been travelling around the world a couple of times thanks to squaredancing and enjoyed calling in the USA, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Germany, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Austria and China.

Highlights throughout the years:
  • Swedish National Conventions 20 times
  • The Easter Festivals in Örebro, what a dance!!
  • Ericsson Jamboree, Stockholm, the dream come true!
  • BÖDABADEN, the best place on Earth for squaredancing and recreation. My second home, THANKS Inger and Gösta!!
  • International Squaredance Festival in Perth, Australia
  • Weekends in Auckland, New Zealand, the best of friends!!
  • US National Convention Anaheim, California

  • Weekend in Sendai Japan for The Roadrunners and Mac O´shima
  • And then all the clubnights and specials throughout Sweden and other parts of the world. Squaredancing is a wonderful activity and Jack believes that he has not been where he is today without it.

Most of all Jack wants to thank all the dancers that have been attending the dances throughout the years. Without them the caller is nothing.

I began squaredancing in 1989, when I was 16. I took my first course in 1998 and became club caller for Örebro squaredancers, a position I still hold.

Around 2000 I began calling at varions dances around Sweden and abroad. Apart from the Nordics, I have also called in Germany, England and the USA, I have also called at a number of conventions in Sweden and abroad.

When I'm not dancing I love to spend time with my friends and family. I love to go on a cruise when the oppontunity arises.

Joe S Kromer, DE

Already in 1995, Joe held his first seminar and was asked in 1999 to hold a seminar in Kenny Reese's Caller School, after which he was Staff Coach from 2000. Kim Bergström, SE
Kim Bergström, SE

I started squaredancing in 1999 as an 8 year old in Bålsta, but it took until 2018 for me to start calling, then at the club Road 66 in Ludvika. Now I hawe moved and am clubcaller at Vinga Yellow Rockers in Gothenburg. Besides that, I am also member of SAASDC.

What I strive for in my calling is to create enjoyable movement on the dancefloor, just as I would want when I'm dancing.

When I'm not calling or dancing squaredance, I work freelance in digitalisation of healthcare. Apart from our fun dance, I also like to try other styles including lindy hop and ten dance.

Martin Jansson, SE
Martin Jansson, SE

I am a man in my best years who has danced squaredance for just over 30 years. I work as a service technician in the petrochemicals industry in Stenungsund.

Music and song have always been important for me, which is why it wasn't a big step to start calling. I get a lot of inspiration and happiness from holding different squaredance courses.

My family & I live in Spekeröd 50 km north of Gothenburg. We like to spend our summers in our caravan by the sea.

Ronja Höjer, SE
Ronja Höjer, SE

I am Ronja Höjer, dancer and caller from Kungsbacka, south of Gothenburg, who has grown up with dancing. When I was 11 I began dancing at Kungsbacka Squaredancers, and 7 years later I began to try calling. What I believe is best about squaredance is the people, but also when you can dance such enjoyable moves, no matter the level, and have fun both on the dancefloor and stage together! That's what I most try to reflect in my calling.

By day I work in the kitchen of a resturant. When I'm not working, dancing or calling I practice Kali Sikaran or sing with a choir that I lead.

I really look forward to meeting you all and calling for you during Convention 2024.
